12 Gould Cres.

Gordon Frederick McCutcheon

Gordon was born on March 1, 1924 on a farm in Garafraxa Township to Fred and Annie Dearing. The 1931 Census shows the family living in a house they owned on Young St., Acton with two young sons…Harvey and Gordon…the family attending Knox Presbyterian Church. It is known that at some time the family lived at 147 Mill St. East.

Gord enlisted in the Air Force during WW II with the RCAF as LAC. He served in Canada, Penfield Air Base. He was discharged on May 29, 1946.

In the early 1960’s, Gord, a salesman at the time had been on the Hydro Commission for two years and one year on the planning board and was running for re-election. At that time, he, his wife Pat Bayliss (WW2) and four children were reported to be living at 69 Nelson Court, Acton.

For several years in the mid 1990’s, the Canadian Phone and Address Directory places Gord at 12 Gould Cres., Acton. Gordon was a member of the Acton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion for 60 years, Past President of Legion Branch 197, Chairman of the Building Committee for the new Acton Legion Branch and Seniors Residence. Apparently in 2002, Gord received the Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee Medal.

Gordon passed away October 23, 2012 and is buried at Fairview Cemetery, Acton.
