Albert George McCron
When Albert married Mary Jeannette Francis Bastien in April of 1942, he was twenty-two years old, a bachelor and a Presbyterian, he listed his place of birth as Saskatchewan, his parents as Samuel McCron and Florence Ingram and his occupation as RCAF.
Having moved to Ontario from out west, the family lived in various places in Ontario, including Acton (address unknown).
Albert was one of three brothers from this family of six children, who served with the RCAF during WW2. Albert’s older brother Samuel Lorne and one younger brother William, both served in the RCAF overseas, and both were killed in action.
The 1945 Urban List of Electors for the City of Ottawa shows Albert as “overseas RCAF”.
Albert returned safely from overseas to his relieved and grateful wife, parents, sisters and remaining brothers, but little else is known about his life following the war.
Albert died in 1988 at the age of 69 and was buried at the MacTier Union Cemetery.
Truly a Canadian Hero. His story lives on.
